Enjoying the sun at Thermal
Santa Teresita Fantasma and Sayre have been WOWING the West Coast! Starting the Desert Circuit with 3rd and 9th placings in the Jimmy Williams Futures classes the pair moved up to perform just as consistently in the Grand Prix' placing 13th and 11th.
Our other stand-out performers are our babies who are making us very proud! Kilkenny Watcher is marching around the baby hunter rings attracting a different kind of attention, more like "ooooohhhhhhh he is soooooo cute!" And Spacific, who had never left Kilkenny Crest before, has proved to be not only typey, flashy, and athletic but very sensible.
Kilkenny Lexus came to Thermal with us looking fit and ready- more like an 7 yr old than a 13 yr old. I got to ride him in only one class- but without even trying we placed 5th. Unfortunately, that will be his last time in the ring; an old injury we thought was healed began to bother him. Because Lexus has been a staple in our show string- people may remember Lexus jumping out and back into the ring with Gail at Spruce Meadows, or Buddy Brown being jumped loose coming out of the Devil's Dyke and clearing the next oxer in the CN Derby with his arms around Lexus' neck- we feel it isn't fair for him to have more stall rest. So, we sent him back to Mindi and there he is keeping Jasco company in the field by day and resting in his stall at night. We feel that Lexus loves his life on the road, so he will heal with good old fashioned time, and some serious trail riding with Sherry, and eventually come back to work as an equitation horse. He has proven he can jump 1.6m, but from now on he will be treated like the Grand Prix horse he is- just competing at Harrisburg instead of Spruce.
